I guess this is the new malware on the block?

This is a real beast to get rid of and it seems to be causing alot of trouble lately.

It poses itself as a genuine microsoft antivirus... scans as usual and tells you that you have 100+ viruses on your pc and you should purchase the software to get rid of it, sounds like a trojan right?

the problem with this one is that if it is not uninstalled correctly it can damage those precious registry files of yours and the personal ones too.

it gets into the deepest darkest parts of your computer and unlike a trojan it does not show the desktop screen but loads straight into the scanning screen and when you try to end it using rkill or task manager it throws your pc into a loop of never ending black screens and even more problems.

just a warning, do a lot of research before trying to uninstall it.
goodluck!

Install and run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in Safe Mode so you can clean out the pest, then use Microsoft Security Essentials :p as a realtime antivirus scanner, the real Microsoft AntiVirus.

Yup... I had to remove this off a family member's laptop... followed these instruction...

http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-thinkpoint

and it helped.

I do not know or understand why people feel compelled to click on flashy banners for free security scans that require the un-installing of their current anti-virus protection... and then these same people exclaim in ratty email messages that "your anti-virus just let in blah blah trojans that my new anti-virus has just found"... only to then have these same people exclaim that "your anti-virus" must not have uninstalled properly because "the bits it has left behind are corrupting their windows and slowing it down"... and now I must come and fix this since it was my anti-virus that bombed everything!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. Stupid is as stupid does and deserves actually everything that stupid gets!

/wonders how many people have clicked & accepted that paid for ''antivirus''....

sounds similar to the ''XP antivirus'' that was out a few years ago...

This was just a thread warning people of the virus, didnt need support on getting rid of it but it could help others, thanks.

another thing to add is that it creates directories of directories and you start finding duplicates of each of your files. bit defender has an option to scan for duplicates and get rid of them.

yes people! DO NOT click on scan or buy when these low life anti virus programs show up on your pc, research them and get rid of them.
