Why not just stick with the 'ask the user what to do' thing they have at the moment? Maybe just name the exe that will be start as well as its description, if available. "Unknown Application wants to run off you flash drive" - me thinks anyone who says yes deserves a virus.

I love the idea, will it protect us from virusses that sit on flash drives waiting patiently to infect helpless pc's?

Only autorun viruses... There are still many other ways for a virus to jump from you flash drive to your pc.

But to solve all these problems, have an up to date anti-virus. Works for me XD

Doesn't always work - AV companies are always playing the catch up game. With 1000's of new pieces of malware coming out each day they can't stop it all. Once your infected AV programs have a problem cleaning in use files.

At least once autorun is disabled these kind of malware should die out.

I know you can disable autorun.inf - a reg setting as well as a hotfix is required (most people don't know about the hotfix)

And also how many companies do you know that actually disable autorun.inf?

Cause users are stooped! If a prompt came up that said do you want to run this infected file.....they would! Curiosity!!
