Microsoft unveils Surface Earbuds

Microsoft revealed its own smart wireless earphones, the Surface Earbuds, on Wednesday.

The Earbuds are the company’s first attempt at an in-ear version of wireless headphones, after introducing the Microsoft Surface Headphones late last year.

“During a presentation, Microsoft will be able to translate your speech into one of more than 60 languages and display it in captions on a screen.”
Take my money now!!!

On a side note - All these in ear bud things make my skin crawl - how horrific is it to have some rubber plugs in your ear canals, blocking out the world.

I almost got ran over once. Couldn't hear anything.

Actually more than once.

I wonder if it this design would allow me to finally sleep on my side whilst listening to some podcasts at night

Sometimes that's just what you need.
On a bus or at your work desk, for example, where you being able to block out the chatter and halfalogues is worth gold.
When running or walking in the road - not so great.
I'm surprised Ninja'd is not dead yet.

I get the silence benefits - but that feeling of having blocked ears is a nightmare for me.

That's interesting. I think I may somewhat get it.
I wear earplugs when I go to sleep, also, as my partner likes to stay up later and watch telly, so they're a lifesaver.
But often, in the middle of the night, I'll wake up and rip them out of my ears - the silence is too profound and yes, there's that "there's something blocking my ears" atavism as well.

I do my jogging on the lowest volume and against oncoming traffic now.

And now when walking home in the afternoon I always make to take them out when crossing the road.
