Microsoft working on Edge-based widgets for Windows 10 desktop

Microsoft is working on widgets for Windows 10 which are supported through its Chromium-based Edge browser, according to a report from WindowsLatest.

The company is currently testing a combined news and weather widget which can be pinned to the desktop.

The information presented in the widget is provided by Microsoft Bing through the Edge browser. However, the widget will keep running with the application closed.

Honestly, who stares at their desktop reading news summary in the corner of the screen?

You mean those cool things they removed from windows 8> now they bringing it back...

Win 7 also had widgets.
The only widgets I had on Win 7 was the memory and CPU usage one, and the Sticky notes. The rest was useless.

I remember there was a site you could download and install widgets from. I think the widgets itself was HTTP based or something like that.

On Linux I use KDE, with the widgets. Very nice.
