Microsoft Zune player

I can say one thing: as soon as I get another 320GB HDD to get stuff from DC++ hub, my next toy is gonna be a Zune...

Yes, I would also be interested in the Zune as my main jukebox player.

I really like Media Player 11 (I know it's still in Beta) and Microsoft will make sure that the Zune & Media Player 11 work in perfect harmony.

What more can I ask for? Um, battery life of 20 hours?

Back to the iPod - this is excellent:

At this stage I still prefer iTunes however, the latest iTunes 7 seems to be a bit harsh on memory whereas MP11 runs nicely - it is however not that well supported yet w.r.t. getting track info off the web. At least I can get cover art from MP11 without having to register a US/UK based credit card.

Just remember that Media Player 11 is still beta, I'm sure it will work much better when it's finally released.

Heh, heh - just sold my iPod 30g video in anticipation for the zune - I am waiting in the queue...... Large screen and wireless sold me already.
You've got a bit of a wait - its only expected to be released at the end of the year.

Also - keep in mind any of the music that you buy with M$oft's PlaysForSure wont play on it - Amazon must be pissed. :o

Stats have shown that iPod owners buy on average only 20 tracks from the iTunes store ... now where do you think they get their music from to fill up their players ???.

Afaik Zune will not use or support MP11 ... it will comes with it's own music manager.

And Apple have been heavily criticised for not letting other retailers have access to fairplay.

What microsoft is doing is not even letting songs with msoft's other drm play on the device.

The trick for the record companies should be to get more people buying their music not less.

From CDs bought before the big digital drive. Hell, I have 5400 odd songs on my iPods, all from my own CDs and bought from iTMS (13 songs :D)

That's fine, the wait is not a problem. i just had to get rid of the iPod before the general public gets to hear of the zune. Att this stage, not internet junkies do not know what a zune is... I never buy music online. I prefer to get the CD - still want something tangible for my money (or otherwise).

I realise that, it should work properly once it is out of beta - then I will migrate my music collection to it. Something I don't like about iTunes is that you need to make the window active before you can click on anything to work. i.e. 2 screens, working on FF on the 1 screen with iTunes on the other screen. If you move your mouse to iTunes and click on pause, nothing happens. The window was only selected as active and then you have to click the pause (or whatever button) again. In MP, you just move your mouse to the button, click and it pauses.

Yes, I had the same problem with my Sony NW-E005F Walkman & Sonicstage, the crappest Music Manager ever invented.

But then I discovered VoidMP3FM to drag & drop files from my pc to my Walkman, so I'm sure someone will 'help' us to do away with Microsoft's software.

Why not use iTunes mini player and set it to remain on top?

Then I can't see whats coming up. I did some editing in iTunes today again and MP11 will have to really pull out the stops to make me switch. I can't seem to get the cover art feature in MP to work properly. In iTunes i usually get cover art from Amazon (quick copy and paste) for CD's I no longer have the cases for:rolleyes: But yea, I enjoy the podcasts and radio in iTunes - at least you don't have to have a USA cr card for that.

Apparently ZUNE is "F$CK" in Hebrew. This player will be a big success in Israel I'm sure.... and the turd brown colour looks appetising. :)
