This could backfire badly. If WP7 has poor sales then Blackberry and Apple could hold a WP7 funeral

RIM and Apple need only remind Microsoft of the slow agonising death of Windows Mobile and the recent sudden death of Kin (... talk about death in the family and funerals!). The joke is on Microsoft. Stupid.

What a ridiculous slur this is - the parade is nothing of the sorts! Engadget is being very naughty pitching it this way. It wasn't marketing. It wasn't anything to do with blackberry or apple.
This parade was held to celebrate the RTM (release to manufacturing) of Windows Phone 7, ie the code is finished and off to handset makers. The WP7 developers and staffs - who spent the last 3 years in little booths weaving WP7 - decided to have a little break-out fun, let their hair down, and make a noise in the street. The marketing people had nothing to do with it and were in fact quite nervous about how this could be (mis)perceived. Geez, guys, these are developer-geeks who decided to get dressed up in a Zombie theme, joll through the streets (at the Microsoft campus), and hold a party at a venue, to celebrate WP7 finally getting out the door.
