Was sitting in my living room and heard a strange sound almost like a valve releasing. Lots of fluid was coming out of the microwave even though it wasn't on. Any idea what this clear liquid could be and if the microwave is still safe ?

Thansk

If you used it a few hours ago, it is likely just condensation from whatever you had cooking in there..

@L-Dog, how are you still alive?

That microwave oven should be treated with extreme prejudice tomorrow, like the way the printer was treated in Office Space.

And where do you think the large amount of liquid would come from in a microwave? The inlet valve? It's not a washing machine.

Maybe look around the microwave.

Is the liquid oily or water base. There is a capacitor inside, but never did one did this.

I though it was a can or something in the cupboard above but nothing, was wet and clearly leaking from the bottom of the mico. Used it yesterday so no clue what it could be but was probably like 100ml so to much for condensate. Also had a stange metalic smell but was clear unlike the yellow / brown liquid that leaks from a fridge sometimes

That hissing sound and loud pop is a dead giveaway. The capacitor popped, probably due to a power surge that did the damage previously.

Take it to a repair shop - and clean up that liquid with cloths/paper towels you can throw away - it might be very corrosive stuff. And then make sure you protect the mw/replacement with a class III SPD in future.

Check your insurance policy to see if it is covered for LS damage

PS: Make and model will be interesting
