Mid Range Gaming PC Build

if u planning on overclocking, get away from that mobo
It will hold ur ram back with the ratios (it dowsnt have 1:1 ssb to dram)...

W/e. Invest in dying technology if you want. I don't do a complete overhaul every year like some people, so I look at what is going to last me the longest, and socket 775 + DDR2 was a stupid option for me. Good luck finding cheap DDR2 in a couple years, the exact same thing will happen to it that has happened with DDR400 vs DDR2.

I'm not a fanboy and I have no problem with intel, AMD was just the most intelligent option for me, and I think it's a good recommendation.

OCing is FUN OKAY!

I agree with killa about these AMD fanbois, i mean it's ridiculous! They're just ignorant to the fact that Intel offers a better price performance index then AMD at the moment

Btw, you only ocd to 3.7, you could have just gotten a TRUE or V8 instead of spending money on WC

Nope got good water cooling, custom built with a 1000l/h hour pump, temps are not my prob my p35 mobo is not the best or i could get 4.0ghz but as fun as overclocking is i have found i have wasted money on water cooling when overclocking offers no real time performance boost from what i can tell. It is more about benchmarks and what not, not actual pc performance.

I saw no difference doing my everyday stuff going from 3.7ghz back to 2.8ghz, while it is fun i think i would rather not waste money on good cooling and expensive boxes for added cooling for fun :p

My box set me back 1.6k my water cooling in total set me back nearly 3k. Fun but expensive, not worth it my opinion. Guess it is great fun trying it but saving money seems more logical than having fun :D.

Interesting thing as well and it could just be because windows 7 is so fast, i bought an entry level amd system got an ssd as main hdd and i do not notice much difference with my work stuff.

I have actually figured out that a faster hdd is far better than a faster cpu.

I went for the E6300 and a Gigabyte MB. Total is R1700. I reckon I can just sell or bin that in a year and get an i5 or i7 or whatever is mainstream by then. The Virtual Threading on the E6300 appealed to me and since I don't need high res, I don't think I'll even bother overclocking from what I've read. Thanks for all the advice.

I agree that AMD is currently overpriced, but I guess that is what a new platform costs. Maybe in 6 months it'll be better value than the current intel LGA775 platform. I've never owned intel, only AMD chips, so I'm keen to see if I notice any benefits.
