Hi all.

Looking for some advice for a mid-range laptop.

My usage is fairly basic: internet browsing, email, youtube, facebook, online trading etc. but I would rather buy something that has more than the basic requirements.

Started off thinking an i3 at around R7k should be fine but going further down the rabbit hole i am now browsing i5 and Ryzen machines at around the R10k mark.

One that i'm currently interested in is the Lenovo L340. Price R10350 + around R600 for warranty upgrade to 3 years.

Specs:
15.6 FHD; Ryzen 5 3500U; 8GB
(4GB Onboard); 512GB SSD M.2; Integrated Graphics; Granite
Black; Win 10

My only concern is that 4GB onboard memory. I would feel much better if it just had 2 regular slots so ram could be replaced or upgraded if need be. I wouldnt want to have them collect and repair my laptop just because of a ram issue.

Another option is the Dell 3593.
  • 15.6-inch HD Anti-Glare Display
  • 8GB RAM & 1TB HDD
  • 10th Gen Intel Core i5 1035G1 Processor
  • 3-Cell Battery, 42WHr (Integrated)
  • Intel UHD Graphics
  • Tray load DVD
Only "downside" would be the regular hard drive. Adding an ssd would bring it back up to the price of the lenovo which seems like it would be the better performer seeing as its an entry level gaming laptop.

Any input or other suggestions welcome.

512gb ssd, at least 8gb, HD screen, 10k or less.
Bonus would be a backlit keyboard, i dont think either of these have it.

Thanks
