You probably need to change the MIDI routing into whatever program she's using from serial to USB, MIDI isn't plug n' play.

EDIT:- is this LED thing you speak of, the level monitor on the keyboard(green yellow red lights that go up and down) if that isn't picking any keystrokes then that adaptor isn't providing power to the keyboard.

MORE EDIT:- I see that prodipe has both 5 and 7 pin connectors, some keyboards will have both connections so you can choose whether to supply phantom power over the MIDI cable or external power. Plug in the 7 pin one if this is the case because power over a 5 pin isn't generally used.

So what you are saying is the light on the prodipe thingy doesn't register MIDI output from the keyboard?

Stupid question, but does the keyboard work? Is the prodipe installed properly on the computer? Is the MIDI IN plugged into the keyboard, as opposed to the MIDI OUT connector, which looks exactly the same?

The midi connector is 5 pin, keyboard and midi adaptor. I use cakewalk sonar. There is a led on the device for keystroke capture and on the windows taskbar. none of them glow.

Does the keyboard work. It use to work on the game port. d type 15 pin. now using midi port for the first time.
So now my intelligent question, how do I test it. I suppose take it to some one who have a midi setup or to another computer.
But you know the story, it must work now.

Does the midi adapter appear in Sonar's devices?

Pretty sure the problem is about the keyboard not having external power, the old cable was it MIDI to D-Sub or D-sub to D-sub? Because if it was D-Sub to D-sub then the keyboard would have been drawing power from there and might not be able to get power via MIDI

Got to this page.

By port mapping I got nothing. they have MS wave table SW synth.

I think you are over-complicating things by looking at articles like that.

I am trying to figure out where your issue is, but I need your help to do so... :)

What OS are you using?

If windows 7, anything that looks like this in your device manager?

Another option might be to get a soundcard that has a game/midi port.
You should be able to find one in PCI.

xp sp3.
old cable were d to d.

will try to take it to a music shop today to test.

Ah you see there's the problem this keyboard can't get power through it's MIDI because it's a 5-pin. It should have a connector for an external power source just go get a universal adaptor and you should be sorted.

test the usb midi cable, no 5v.
went and bought a sound card, now keyboard is working.

And now, no audio sound from cakewalk sonar. I can hear when records, but not playback.

+1 You can get a cheap sound card with midi port for under R100. You can still use your current
sound config and just use the midi/game port from the cheap card.
