but it will still be better then stock sound right?
Esp from golf.

Start with a +-R1000 front loader (JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony) and 6x9s in the back or something. Or get splits/mids if your doors can take speakers.

Way different definition of 'mid-range' than I have.

JK8's suggestion sounds quite good though - but approaches double your budget.

Should be a worthwhile expense in that case though.

You should be able to get a Sub and ok'sh 6x9's with the amount of money including a box for the Sub. But if you need to buy a radio also, you will need to up the budget to include the radio.

Not gonna happen within that budget, even if you had to get some crappy brand especially since you want an mp3 player. You'll have to push your budget up by another R1000 at the very least.

I've got a '92 Golf.

Gonna do the following:
5.25" Split system - front doors
6" Split system - back doors
8" Limpits - back board

2x 12" 1000w Pioneer DVC Subs, wired 1 ohm stable
running of a 3000w targa amp

8 farad cap
6 channel crossover
equilizer running 3 RCA's from front to crossover.
4 channel amp for split systems
2/4 channel amp for limpids

:D the sub currently do about 141Db, but it needs a new box. superwood this time.

I bought a very nice LG earlier this week - my astra already has some decent speakers in it. The LG costs R1150 but I got it for R1000 cash.

You really do not need much more than that, it is loud and has good sound quality with kickass bass. Anything more than that and you are just going after showoff value.

Another thing, is it possible to get a sub box that fits to the side of the boot or something? i dont want to just put it the i want it to be fixed then maybe i can get 2, one on each side eg http://cgi.ebay.com.my/NEW-10-Woofe...armsZalgo=SI&its=I&itu=UCI%2BRTQ&otn=10&ps=63

also how much will the labor cost? i will not be able to install this myself.

Also how about this http://www.autostyle.co.za/prodview.php?prod_id=18329

or this http://www.autostyle.co.za/prodview.php?prod_id=18482 with a front loader? (ill need to save up more obviously)

The best thing to do is to have it custom built for your car. That way you can consider things like easy access to the spare wheel.
