Hi Guys,
Recently a subscribed to a Afrihost product which provided me with a mobile WiFi (called MiFi) devise free of charge (valued at R799.00) Because of a minor hitch in the delivery of the devise Afrihost credited my account for the months subscription and also gave me 5 gigs of data free.

We all know that no one gets nothing for nothing yet if this is what certain companies can do then the question arises why data Bandworh is so expensive in South Africa

Can someone please explain.

Afrihost uses a major part of their advertising budget to subsidise their data cost... if that's your actual question..

You are a client of afrihost. From what I garner in these threads, they try to ensure customer satisfaction as a priority, even if margins are compromised. Remember, we are a fickle bunch, and migrate ISP's at a whim - they realise this, hence their offer of appeasement.

Some ISP's, on the other hand, will rape your tender behind to squeeze every juicy bit of profit as a priority and compromise customer retention.

Then you get the ISP who offers the lowest prices to gain traction in the market place, sell data below competitor price, but then cannot cope with the demands.

Then you get ISP's that lure you with false advertising then renege on these offers, leaving the client bamboozled for transgressing AUP that are not clearly defined to begin with.

Seems Afrihost have the balance right, for now.
