Mifi management tools and utilities

Thats weird. I see two completely different apps for the same developer (Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.).

I take it back. The android app is legit. I did a quick experiment and set up a man-in-the-middle proxy to see what traffic flows in/out of my android device after I install and launch the app. From the little that I have seen, it ONLY connects to the mifi device on http://192.168.1.1. From the limited testing that Ive done, it does not connect to any other server or send out any of your personal info.

Another unexpected result of this experiment was how easy it is to use the MIfi API - all the requests shown below bring back status info from the device. You can punch in one of those urls straight in your browser if you're connected to the mifi device and see the result directly! So it would be dead easy to build android / mac os widgets that display just what you want.
See screenshots attached:

So what is the 40mb of data that it has used in the last 7 days?

So what is the 40mb of data that it has used in the last 7 days?

Im not sure... though one thing I noticed was that the app was continuously trying to connect to the mifi device on 192.168.1.1 all the time. If I wasnt connected to the mifi device, it would keep receiving 404s from my adsl router. That does contribute to some traffic, but I am not sure if it adds up to 40mb for 7 days.
As good as this app is, I also suspect it may become a significant battery drain if its allowed to use background data.

Thanks for the feedback, background data is off and will stay that way

Every time I now start the MDMA program it refuses to connect and then resets my password and settings to original defaults. Yet it worked fine the first time I tried it.

Hi guys.

I have not gotten my hands on a modem yet so I could never Fig out if it would work with MDMA but seems its working fine, Thanks to feet.

So if you want to know how good your signal is, or see what tower your connecting to you can load this app.( Make sure your modem is connected via usb)

First download the app from http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...amp-USSD-amp-Monitors-Signal-Strength-Windows ( Thanks to gings!)

Now run down of stuff you might want to know

1.Now before you open the mdma.exe make sure you don't have other app's using the modem or you will get this error.

MDMA keeps kicking up an error:

"An error occured while initalizing the mobile data device"

Could the fact that I am using Windows 8 be the issue?

And then forced the device to only connect in 3G mode so that I could not get any connection in my 2G only area.

PCF testing the device I presume Mike ?

Does anyone have MDMA working on Windows 7 with the MiFi? I'm trying with mdma1101 and Windows 7 SP1, MDMA resets the modem,SSID and passwords to default.

Works for me but most of the times MDMA has a "bug" that resets the MiFi back to factory defaults when the program starts, but once its up and running it works a charm I just have to type all the setting in the MiFi back to what I want it to be.

I can't get it running at all, it resets the MiFi every time I launch it. Are you using version 1.1.0.1?

slap me with a large trout around a bit if this is already posted, but this non official huawei app actually works quite nice on android devices
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.huawei.mw
it shows battery life, usage, sms , edit a few settings and even has a widget for your phone to show the stats when you are connected to the mifi

Installed works great but when tapping on button it's asking for a User name and Password ?
The WiFi SSID and Passkey doesn't work is there a default username admin password admin
edit
NVM got it working great app tx !
