Hi all,

I've been using the Mighty Mouse for a while now, but due to the 17" on the MBP, the Max tracking speed in preferences is not fast enough ... I keep finding myself having to reposition the mouse on the table every couple of movements.

Is there anywhere else to maybe configure the tracking speed, as I need it to move a bit quicker.

This, or something else on the page, might help.
I've known some people for whom the fastest trackpad speed setting still seemed sluggish. You can manually change the setting to whatever you want by modifying the .GlobalPreferences.plist file, located in your user's Library/Preferences folder. Notice the dot before the name -- this means that the file is hidden in the Finder. The easiest way I know of to open it is to open Terminal and type:

Once you've got the file open, changing the setting for com.apple.trackpad.scaling to something higher will make the trackpad more responsive. For example, a setting of 5 is noticeably faster than the fastest setting available in System Preferences, and a setting of 20 would be uncontrollably fast. You can also change com.apple.mouse.scaling to alter the speed of mouse tracking.

The simplest way I knew of to commit these settings once I had altered and saved .GlobalPreferences.plist was to log out and log back in.

Done! Upped it from 3 to 6 ... mmuuucchhhhh better, thanks bwana
 
Damn you 17" people..... I got a 13" and *still* waiting for stock of a mini DVI to VGA adapter so I can hook my 19" LCD to the Macbook.
 
Have you tried the likes of Digicape and project 3?
 
Updated it to 8 last night .. will check tonight what the effect is.

Interesting, when looking at the Mouse TRacking settings in Preferences after manually changing the values, the ruler bar is in the middle of the ruler ... maybe it rescales it when the numbers get bigger

You might as well download the GUI. :)
 
oh, I didn't even read the link ... decided to jump right in and change it with Pref Setter :D
