Migraine pack/cocktail/mix

I know there was a similar thread here somewhere, but for the love of me I cannot find it.

Does anyone know what the composition is of the migraine packs you can buy at the pharmacy? Is it possible to just buy the pills individually? Will I be allowed to?

I suppose I should really just get it checked out, get to the root cause of the problem instead of popping pills when I get one...
 
How often do you get them?

The ones I found are a mixture of I think Adcodols, anti-inflammatories and a pill for nausea. Not sure of the exact names though but they probably differ from pharmacy to pharmacy
 
When I used to have migraines I usually would go the local doctor who is a close friend of mine. He would attach me to a drip and give me some morphine and I would doze off for a few hours. Was actually looking forward to my doctor visits, then the headaches disappeared. Bloody karma for you.
 
I've been having migraines since forever. I'm usually able to manage them quite well, but lately not so much. I have a eye-ball squishing muscle-tensing migraine weekly now a days.
 
I regularly make my own migraine cocktails. I used to buy from our local pharmacy but my friend worked there and gave me the list of ingredients so I can buy all and make my own. Just works out cheaper.
They consist of 5 tablets in each pack.
1 Pain pill. (I just use an adcodol)
1 Brufin
1 Naseu pill ( I use aculoid)
1 Menograine
1 Crucial.

You can buy the brufins cheap at the chemist as they prepack some and also the menograine I only buy 10 at a time as they can get rather pricey. I normally pay about R70 for the whole bunch and I can make 10 packs from it and have some tablets left over.

Please go see a docter if you are having the migraines daily. Your body gets accustomed to the pain medication and will crave more and more. Rather have them give you something to prevent the migraines. I was on prophylaxis for many years and it really is life-changing not to have frequent migraines.

These would all be from the dispensary, correct?
 
To further expand in the Migraine Pack recipe above....

1 Pain pill (Adcodol/Lenapain/Syndol - OTC) - Contains Paracetamol and Codeine. Can use Myprodol instead (but then leave out the Ibuprofen below).
1 Ibuprofen (Brufen/Lenafen - OTC)
1 Nausea pill (Aculoid/Valoid/Vomifene -OTC)
1 Menograine (Clonidine/Combipres - Prescription Only!)
1 Crucial - Not sure what this is???


Other drugs that are useful for controlling/treating Migraine/Headaches:
1) Trepilene - a mild sedative, taken prophylactically - requires a prescription.
2) Ergotamine - Usually combined with Caffeine. Taken right at the onset of a Migraine - requires a prescription.
3) Propranalol - A Beta Blocker (most commonly Pur-Bloka). Reduces the frequency and severity of Migraines - requires a prescription.

My mom has tried everything and swears by this. Only thing that works for her.
 
I paid R25 for my migraine pack, left it at work so cant tell you the ingredients now, PM me at 8am and ill post here
 
I find that Rizact helps me the best as well. As long as I take it at the onset of a migraine However purbloka every morning and night has reduced the frequency. I used to get the headaches every week. And trepiline to assist with restful sleep Problem is that if you skip purbloka even for a day or two the headache will strike with great vengeance. Good luck and strength to all migraine and headache sufferers.
