Hi,

I have been with C-Fibre Vumatel for 2 years now. A Cell C rep visited my apartment and helped me sign up. He didn't give me any customer portal login details.

I would like to move over to Cool Ideas. Can someone guide me through the process with as less possible downtime?

I phoned Cool Ideas and they told me I need to cancel my line with Cell C first, then sign up using the forms online.

I don't trust Cell C support and I don't want to be without internet connection for a long time. Is this the only way?

Thanks

It is, and you will struggle like made to cancel with C-Fibre..

Accept that you will very probably be without fibre for a period because C-Fibre will cock around.

If you mean for the Vumatel site, Vumatel can send a password reset.

Look for an email with the subject 'Registration on the serviceportal' from venturanext.se, this will contain your username. Case is important.

Already tried that, does not recognize my email address...

So I have decided to move to Cool Ideas soon. c-fibre is just so unreliable with latency lately. Where I used to get 1-5ms ping to local servers, I am getting 15-50ms on some days. Watching Twitch streams some days is just a nightmare with constant buffering, on a 50/50Mbps connection.

I have had a look into the terms and conditions on c-fibre:

FibreCPE, Fibre Line And Wi-Fi Router
32.The CPE and fibre line remains the property of the FNO at all times and may be removed from your premises upon cancellation of C-Fibre

Does this mean when I cancel my fibre in order to change ISP that I will have to go through the whole thing again with waiting for a CPE device to be installed and pay for installation etc. !?

NO
CPE belongs to vuma, cfibre paid for the install but over the contract period it becomes yours like the router.

Once cfibre cancels your line, vumatel will receive the request and action at midnight 12am
Your line must go down and once that happens cool ideas must be notified that your line has been released
They will then request vuma that it should be assigned to them
None of these steps are automated as far as I understand it

Though I do know from experience that once your line has been released it takes less than 30mins for a technician at your new ISP to get you connected and up and running again

You don’t have to do anything you router will automatically re connect

Thanks so much for all the details. I really hope it is that quick, I have heard people say it can take weeks.

well i moved from cfibre to supersonic and it took 30mins once the technician activation team was alerted
similarly it took 30 to 45mins once the technician was alerted that my line was released ....when i moved from supersonic back to cfibre....

cfibre offered 3 months free and 1gbps line at R1500

Uhm you did not say you went back to C fibre. We need some tests on the 1Gbps connection!

On my phone easier upload screenshots that I saved under notes

I did a vuma isp handover to test my max potential bandwidth speed
The local speed test
Then London single
Then London multi
Then New York
Then Hong Kong (well someone asked and I was curious, no 220ms ping)
Performance not bad haven’t had much time to test as I could only get these speeds via wired connection
Still waiting for cfibre router
Best speeds on my plume mesh network is 330mbps

Very nice. 1Gbps at R1499, free installation and 3 months free. Very nice deal!

Cool Ideas offers the same service, so it's a matter of support levels offered by C-Fibre vs CISP

I cant vouch for cfibre support....but their network is tops...once you are up and running.....you never need support....having said that....i did get support via email and call centre when i need it...which was say twice over 2yrs of service....
