My Girlfriend has 3 months remaining on a 500-something contract which was originally bought from Autopage Cellular some years ago. She tells me that there definitely was a data allocation in the original contract which has since been taken over by MTN.

The data is a problem because her Samsung S5 has been downloading data to the tune of 800Meg last month which has incurred out-of-bundle penalties. Her bill for July was R947.00

She currently has just over 39 hours free minutes of talk-time (or whatever they call it), but when she tried to send an SMS yesterday, there was a message which told her that the message was unable to be sent because she had no airtime.

She has tried to contact MTN by 'phone and by email with mixed success. The last email response from them was frankly illiterate.

Is it true that there is a R650 penalty for moving between packages?

The Samsung seems to regularly go online for updates, weather reports, etc, and it would seem that July was particularly heavy.

She doesn't use the Internet except for Watsapp.

The fact that she has 39 hours accumulated would indicate that there's no theft of airtime and also that she's on the wrong package.

I actually need the assistance of any MTN reps on the board who may be able to advise.
