Migrating Pastel Payroll

Hi Guys

I have been tasked with moving Pastel Payroll to a better server. The Payroll installation was a breeze, now I need to know how to migrate the data. My Pastel knowledge is very limited, but I assume there are files and data (Pervasive) that I need to migrate.

Any pointers?

The data is the easy part but registering is sometimes a bit tricky

The data is usually either under :\Payroll\Company Name\

Yes, you need to install Pervasive on the new server, prior to installing Payroll. Then install Payroll and re-register, then open pastel - click on "open company" pop up box appears, click on "add company" find the folder of above. All done, hopefully

I see pastel installed Pervasive 10, so I will just copy the company this afternoon and give it a bash. Thanks

Try to check if the old system was also running pervasive 10. If not (sorry for stating the obvious) keep a separate backup copy of the company files. When you open company in Payroll (newer version) it will ask to rebuild/update the file.

Sometimes this process doesn't work as intended...

Wilco. It looks like the old system was running pervasive 9. Luckily we have daily and monthly backups. They asked me to postpone the migration until Monday, so will try Monday afternoon.
