Now, I hate Mikrotik with a passion so before I take a sledgehammer to this POS, can someone please tell me how the fcuck I can connect to it? All I want is to change the WiFi password.

Are you with Vox perhaps? If so then you need to ask for permission and sign some indemnity.

You will need software called Winbox where you can commit to the router with a username and password. Once in there you can then access the WiFi Security profile setting and change the password there

Actually I am. But wtf?! If I had money I'd rather buy my own router. I have a backup here but holy sheet!

edit: the old backup I have is 2.4Ghz only, hence me not using it.

In that case, email them to assist. It is what it is: they manage the Mikrotik network at their NOC. The only other alternative is to put in a request to manage your own Mikrotik router, which needs to be procedurally declared with them. I don't know the process, so I can't comment.

Mikrotik is cool BTW.

Factory reset and set it up yourself, it is not that complicated, and they are really quite good, just not as user friendly as some others.

Am also with Vox, have two FTTH services with them, one with an ac2 I set up, the other is my mesh setup.

Edit: If you reset it or use your own router you will have very limited support from them.
The only other option is to ask them to help on the router they manage.

They're great routers and can do some amazing things IF you known the language and work with that sort of thing on a daily basis .... to me unfortunitely they're greek and I was happy to replace mine with my own router within a few days of getting fibre. I told the ISP they're welcome to fetch their crap... still laying here. I did manage to factory reset the unit.

EDIT: mine was the Hap Lite

If you factory reset it does the Vox config not reinstall?

Unless that is a recent thing, no.

I used one when I started with them which I reset and set up for me until I changed to mesh.

Also reset the other one which I then set up for my daughter’s FTTH to suit her setup.

Have two more lying in the cupboard here still set up by Vox, not bothering anyone :)

Ah ok cool...

Mikrotik provide the most feature rich possible routers for the least money possible.

That said, it's not quite a 2 or 3 click setup process like it is on your "normal" routers.

Chaps, I'm seeing this odd behaviour with a Hikvision intercom system that we're installing, or trying to, at least.

The screen and camera have hardcoded IPs, but they keep dropping off the network and then coming back with new IPs.

So I did the obvious thing and set them to Static, but they are still getting new IPs when reconnecting to the network!

I've never seen this with my other devices, what is going on here?

Appreciate any suggestions on how to deal with this, thanks

On the devices themselves is there an option to set a static IP? or are you only reserving the IP on the router?
