hi guys,

im using an RB1100 ah x 2 for the first time and am having some strange issues.

I have a dhcp client setup on eth1 for an incoming internet connection from an RB951 (getting its internet via 3G) which works perfectly when i ping 8.8.8.8 from eth1. I've setup a dhcp server for eth3 as well as done the required masquerading.

The issue is that eth 3 is issuing IP's, but there is no internet connection on the network. If i ping 8.8.8.8 from eth3 it just times out and then gives me host unreachable. Any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Does the RB951 know about the ip range you setup on the RB1100 eth3 port?

Maybe give more info, don't know to much about Mikrotik, but could be routing issue maybe?

Where does it bom out when you do a trace to 8.8.8.8?

Or is eth3 giving out same ip range as on eth1?

my guess is that the masquerade rule is not correct.

/ip firewall nat add chain=srcnat action=masquerade out-interface=ether1

hi guys, thanks for the replies. Would the 951 need to know about eth3 on the other rb? arent they separate nats?

The RB951 dials a PPP connection, hosts a DHCP server which gives the RB1100 an IP, the RB1100 can access the internet from Eth1(plugged into RB951 - 192.168.1.x range). Eth3 on the RB1100 is on the 10.0.0.x range, this is masqueraded using a src nat to an IP on Eth1. But if I ping(Winbox-tools-ping) to 8.8.8.8 through Eth3, don't get a reply

our masquerade rule is as above.
