Hi all,

I need some help please. I need to configure a layer 2 failover on a network running all mikrotiks.

Setup is as follows:
RB1 is our Main router board with wan breakout.
RB2 is connected to RB1 via fiber
RB3 is connected to RB2 via fiber
RB4 is connected to RB3 via fiber, and also connected to RB1 via fiber.

All routers are in bridge mode except RB1 which is in router mode.

What i want to achieve is that when the fiber goes down between RB1 and RB2, I need all traffic to go to RB1 via RB4 fiber link.

I want to keep this at layer2, as I dont want to go routed network. The other isssue is, the fiber between RB1 and RB2 sometimes go down, but the port stays active as the fiber break might be past the first node. Thus it looks like port is active, but there is no comms to RB1.

Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Thanks in advance

Ok I actually got it working. Was stupid easy. Just set the backup port on RB1 bridge to a higher path cost. And bippity boppitty boom, elvis has left the room.
