Hi all

Need some help. I'm not very clued up on Mikrotik OS. We have a Mikrotik RB1100 with two L2L vpn sessions, one a pptp & other openvpn.

I want to do a simple script to get daily usage on both, but I read up and see I can't do a print stat on the interfaces.

Anybody know how to get the info from it?

Would like to have a daily & monthly report.

there are products that make mrtg graphs easier.

1) cacti was the 1st
2) then came observium, pretty awesome, but you need to pay for latest features
3) librenms is a fork of observium, and is going pretty well, although missing some graphs for mysql ect

MRTG is purely for bandwidth usage and with the traffic utilization php file serves my needs for the usage stats. Still prefer Nagios to monitor servers as the check_mysql plugin does pretty much what I need it to do.

My only problem now is to gather historical network flows, been using ntopng for a long time now, but doesn't really serve my needs. I do push the flows inot a mysql db, but the reporting sucks.

Been trying the Nagios Network Analyzer and I must say, been impressed. Can set the Mikrotik router to send the flows straight to the Nagios NA box and logs everything. With that I can pretty much report on any connection and draw reports. Also can integrate with my Nagios Core box too.

ive heard openvpn isn't so great. VyprVPN is best. Penetrates all forms of ISP and government proxies. :)

OpenVPN is this case is most possibly not a provider. Often companies use OpenVPN to allow connections into their networks. It is secure, fast and does what it is suppose to.
