Hi,

Between Murphy, and Eskom, I bricked my RB750GL yesterday, while attempting to upgrade the routeros version.

All attempts so far to reset the device have failed.

I would like to have this little gem working again if possible.

Thanks,

No, have not, the instructions I have see thus far require a floppy drive which is something I no longer have, will look at your link after church.

Thanks

Had a quick look, those instructions seem do-able, tho there are some things that I am not sure of, got to run now ... , need to open the church.

Thanks, for that link.

Well, got around to attempting a netinstall on my bricked RB750GL, from my netbook which gets it's IP (192.168.1.107) from a wireless router.

Connected the RB directly to the netbook, via a network cable.

Started netinstall and selected Net Booting, inserted IP 192.168.88.1

In "Packages" I selected routeros-mipsbe

pressed the reset button on the RB, and inserted the power cable, first just the power light came on, the the ACT light came on and started flashing, kept the reset button pressed in until the ACT light stopped flashing ... , then released the reset button.

For awhile nothing happened, then the LAN Port light started flashing, and continued to flash for awhile, then all activity stopped, there after there was sporadic activity on the LAN port, and now there is no more activity.

Can I now assume that the install has taken place and completed or should I wait some more ...

If so, has the password been reset to admin, or is the password I set previously still in effect?

Must I "reboot" the device before trying to connect to it wit winbox?

Anything else I should do, or know.

Thanks,

Username will be admin password will be blank. Doesn't matter if you restart it or not. Login with winbox using the detected mac address, not an IP.

Sent my little "gem" back to Uniterm Direct, got it back yesterday afternoon. They swopped it out. Was always a pleasure dealing with them. :D

A big thumbs up to them.
