Mini Aceman

This is the all-electric Mini Aceman, and it comes with a virtual dog

Starting price? £31,800. Deliveries? From November. Digital floof? Included

Mini’s much-anticipated Aceman has finally arrived, and it will sit between the Cooper hatch and the Countryman SUV as Mini’s all-electric crossover option.

You’ll have a choice of two powertrains from the off, beginning with the ‘E’. Its 42.5 kWh battery delivers 192 miles of range on the WLTP cycle, while the 186bhp electric motor makes for a 7.9s run to 62mph.

Not quite spicy enough? Then perhaps the ‘SE’ is the one for you, since it jumps that same electric motor to 221bhp and cuts the 62mph sprint down to 7.1s. The battery is also increased to 54.2 kWh, resulting in an improved range of 252 miles. Both are claimed to gain an 80 per cent charge within 30 minutes.

The Aceman also features an improved chassis setup that’s aided by a new damping system. It contains prestressed stabilisers which Mini says betters the steering. And comfort, obviously.

The Mini Aceman unveiled - an electric crossover with 400km+ range

The new Mini Aceman is the brand's first electric crossover model. It's a small but mighty EV that promises to combine Mini's signature go-kart handling, an immersive digital experience, and ample space in a compact package. With up to 406 km of driving range, it does look like an ideal EV for both navigating city streets and venturing beyond urban limits.

The Aceman is pure Mini with its expressive headlights, distinctive front grille, and bold contours. Its compact 4 m length makes it perfect for city maneuvers. At the same time, its short overhangs, standard roof rails, and optional 19-inch wheels deliver sporty flair. The eye-catching body design is enhanced by vibrant color options.

True to Mini's "Clever Use of Space" philosophy, the Aceman offers comfortable seating for five adults, with a versatile 300 l trunk that can be expanded to 1,005 l. The interior features a minimalist design, a panoramic sunroof, and optional ambient lighting. Curved surfaces and soft fabrics in contrasting colors create a welcoming atmosphere.

New Mini Aceman small EV confirmed for SA

Meet the new Mini Aceman, a small electric crossover set to be positioned below the Countryman and already confirmed for South Africa…

The new Mini Aceman has been revealed as a fresh-faced small electric crossover positioned below the new Countryman. The EV-only newcomer has already been confirmed for local roads, with the BMW Group announcing that it “will be available in South Africa by the end of 2024”.

Measuring 4.07 metres long and 1.75 metres wide (while standing 1.50 metres tall), the Aceman will slot in above the upcoming new Cooper hatchback but below the almost 4.5-metre-long Countryman. Still, endowed with short overhangs and a 2-box design, the Aceman will offer seating for 5 as well as what Mini describes as a “versatile luggage compartment” adjustable from 300 to 1 005 litres.

Mini Countryman too big now? Take a look at the new SA-bound Aceman compact SUV

After seeing the new maxi-sized Mini Countryman you might have expected the brand’s next move would be a version of the BMW X7.

But with the new Aceman, revealed to the world on Thursday, Mini is at least moving closer to its roots with a new compact SUV slotting beneath the Countryman.

Measuring just over four metres in length the new baby ute is similar in size to the Jeep Avenger, and offers seating for five as well as 300 litres of boot space.

You can expect to see it in South Africa by the end of 2024, BMW SA tells us, although the local line-up and pricing has yet to be finalised.
