Hey guys

I work for an IT company that sell a few different Open Source solutions to our clients. These include firewalls, file servers with integrated cloud backup and entry level Asterisk PBXs.

Up until quite recently we have been using the HP Proliant Mikroservers (Image below) and we have recently run out of stock on them and they are not available anymore.

We are looking for a cost effective replacement for these machines. Some mini PC or something of the sorts. I have found the Dell PowerEdge T20 which is not to expensive and looks great but I would like to ask you guys if you know of anything else we can maybe look at.

Thanks a mil.

Hey

There is always the option to go for the newer version of the HP servers HP Proliant Gen 8.

They are a bit beefier than their N54L counterparts, but they are a big more expensive than the older ones used to be.

Is there any solution that is priced similary to N54L on the SA market?

At this stage the closest I can get is the Dell PowerEdge T20 machines. The Gen8 HP server is really cool and also ships with a raid controller (probably software raid) but its a bit expensive for the market that we are currently targeting.

I will keep on searching and post my findings here if I stumble across anything worth checking out.
