Hi guys,

I have built 2 Mini's before and sold them. This time however I'm keeping it and want to rebuilt it with my son. He at that stage now where he wants to help Daddy with everything and loves running around with spanners :D

Anyway, previously I left the braking system as is with the drum brakes. This time round however with me wanting to keep it I need to replace the drum brakes. I want disc brakes front and back. Anyone know of a system I can use for this or should I just play around with it till I find something that will work on the Mini. I have never changed a braking system to an aftermarket one so this is completely new to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I want to soop up the 1275 engine but before I do any of that the braking needs to be 100%.

Thanks in advance.

Erm, cant give help on the actual fitting of the aftermarket brakes....but I know of a SA company that sell complete braking systems for pretty much all cars. A friend of mine uses an aftermarket braking kit on his Alfa which he races. He says they are brilliant! I just bought some brakes from them for my car.

Pitbull - sounds awesome, I bet your son is going to have a blast.

As far as I know, finding disk brakes that fit 13" wheels is a pain. You could import Cooper gear, as they came out with discs, but it'll be pretty expensive. People used to fit Hyabusa brakes as well, if I remember correctly, though I don't know how well they handle the extra weight.
