Minimum acceptable speed on Afrihost 10MB line

Hey guys so I know being far from the exchange means that the performance can be worse but what is the minimum acceptable DL speed I should get from a 10Mbps line?

At the moment the highest I can get is 6Mb when no one is at home and its during the day when everyone else is most likely at work.

Just log into your router and check your sync speed.

check your line attenuation/sync that wikll tell you what your max you can get - there's a sticky http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/186156-Understanding-SNR-and-Attenuation-Rates which will tell you what your line/router max can be

Sync speed is about 7060 or something like that last time i checked

On my 10mbps line with webafrica I get d/l speeds of 8.5mbps but up load is poor less than 0.4mbps and I'm about 1.5km from the exchange

Then you should be getting about 700KB/s. You might want to downgrade your line to 8Mbps if it is with Afrihost.
