Looks like the new one to me and finally 3g support!!!!!

It looks wrong. That's the old one. New version isn't 3G but LTE. And that LTE version isn't available anywhere yet, much less SA. The giveaway is the chipset, old is Tegra 3 and the new Snapdragon. New one also has 2GB RAM.

The top of the range Nexus 7 is R3500. That's the 32GB 3G version. The 16GB wifi only is like 2500 if you can still find it.

Took a look at the Samsung Tab 2 7" today... nice little tablet, we'll probably go for that one. (R2569 through Takealot).

Add r800 and you can get the 2013 Nexus7. It totally demolishes the Tab2 or any other Android tab on the market from a huge distance.

They were and for R2549 you can get the old Nexus 7 with Tegra 3??? Have you not been reading any posts here? The Nexus 7 runs circles around the Sammy Tab

My kids have taken over my Tab 2 10 inch. I'm now looking for a 7 inch that I can use while they hog the Mickey-Mouse Machine.

The 2012 Nexus 7 still looks good. Hopefully some sellers will have them on special soon - to clear stock before the 2013 version comes out. (I'm looking at you Esquire)

I'm gonna say no. A 10 inch with that resolution... As the OP said, there's plenty of crap out there.

1024 x 768 is gonna be pretty crappy but should be usable, plenty of people still run that res on a daily bases on 17" displays.
