In a letter sent to the FM on Wednesday morning, ministerial spokesman Joe Makhafola says Matsepe-Casaburri decided to appeal against the court’s judgment because, in terms of the Electronics Communications Act, industry regulator Icasa may only accept and consider applications for individual electronic communications network service (I-ECNS) licences following a policy directive issued by her.

Well, in that case, they may as well rename ICASA to DoC National Branch.

But Altech CEO Craig Venter on Tuesday said that his group will fight the minister’s appeal and will take the matter all the way to the constitutional court if the minister attempts, as she has threatened to do, to retrospectively amend legislation explicity to ban Vans operators from self-providing their own network facilities.

Somebody needs to reign in Ivy POS. She is costing our economy and our competitiveness a fortune. Can we petition the new President to fire her?

Summary of Ivy's Comments... "I am a god. Don't F. with me!" "I will tell you what is good for you"

There is no way she can spin this without it in my opinion being about her protecting vested individual interests in Telkom. I honestly believe she and others around her or perhaps the ANC as an organization is using income derived from interests like they have in Telkom to perhaps fund political activity or whatever. This is just a hunch, but I don't trust such blatantly stupid behavior.
