The performance agreements President Cyril Ramaphosa signed with each minister have all been signed and are available for public perusal – about nine months after Ramaphosa first said it would be concluded.

In his State of the Nation Address (Sona) in February, Ramaphosa announced that each minister will be expected to sign a performance agreement.

“To strengthen the capacity of the state and increase accountability, I will be signing performance agreements with all ministers before the end of this month,” he said on 13 February.

I think it's a step in the right direction for accountability, the public as well as the opposition parties can hold the executive to those standards, instead of being a political mudslinging it can be criticism based on something, it will also be hard for the President to retain a perpetual non performer in his executive.

It also look like a political move by Ramaphosa to protect himself from the noise from within his own party and to weaken the deployment by loyalty practice.

We already have excellent standards, like the law, that the executive are not being held against because the ANC prefers looking the other way.

We need enforcement of existing rules, not watered down additional rules meant as an eye-blind that something is being done instead of more lip-flapping for public perception.

But then, you know, Zuma said it best, Africa is special..

unless a coup succeeds, or Zuma and ACE manage to pull something out the hat,
like an assassination attempt or even an attempt at one.

I mean Idi amin didn't get into power because he was nice.
and look through Africa how many coups and plots there are,

look at what happened to mugabage,
call it whatever you like, but if it happens in somewhere civilized like Turkey,
it can happen here in SA just as easily.
