Miss Landmine

I thought the same thing when i first saw the site... it appears to be a beauty pageant for the victims of landmines

It serves a dual purpose: reminding land mine victims that they are still beautiful and have a life despite their disfigurement. It is empowering and allows them to still be proud women.
It also draws our attention to the plight of these women and the fact that there are still thousands, if not millions, of land mines from past wars still lying about waiting to be found. These weapons should be put out of use forever.

It may just be a fashion contest but I'm sure after they stepped on those mines each of them must've thought there lives were finished. Survivers of killing weapons given hope and a new life. I'm all for it :)
