Hi guys, I have a small issue in that I cannot get my monitor's native res to display. The option is missing in the Windows 7 slider. I am running the nVidia drivers (most current), and an LG W1934S-BN LCD screen. It is an analog LCD with a DVI adapter. The custom resolution tool that Nvidia supplies did not help. Crysis 2 supports native but it draws it with black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Anyone experienced this before?

Get out the lg driver cd and install the driver in XP compatibility mode.

The CD is missing, I tried using the PnP driver Windows has built in but no go. I hope LG has it on their support page somewhere

You can try Refreshlock, but this seems to be a different problem if not even Crysis 2 can fix the resolution at 1440x900.

Does it show black bars on the top & bottom in other games as well?

It's really a waste to use such a terrible screen with such an awesome graphics card ;)

Its either that screen or a 17" CRT - the new PC really drained my budget :D

I've never heard of refreshlock, I'll give it a go later on today and see what's up. Windows by default installed the monitor as non-PnP, and the resolutions available are from 800 x 600 all the way to 1600 x 1200, but it totally misses the 14xx resolutions. Just my luck. I currently have it @ 1280 x 960? to get it to display kind of correctly, but it's not perfect. I just find it strange that Windows XP could find the native res fine, and windows Z is having such a hard time. Thanks for the help chaps, I'll let you all know if I come right by this evening :)

I also had this exact same issue with Windows 7 like 3 weeks ago when I was at the ITWeb Security Summit and trying to connect to the Plasma TV which had a resolution of like 1280x720 (I can't remember the resolution).

And I had a similar issue with displaying dual resolutions at a security firm once. Not lekker.

I asked on overclock.net and a dude there pointed me to the US site and I found the drivers here. Funnily enough the SA site does not have a driver repository...I'll have to wait until tonight to see if it worked, but I'm hopeful. Otherwise it's back to the 17" for now and a 23" in June/July (hopefully...the GF is gonna kill me lol)

EDIT: our temps on the farm this morning::

Oops. I dunno what it is with LG monitors requiring drivers as I've been in the same boat before. Linux however does not give a toss and it just works.

Still no go! I installed the W1934 drivers for the monitor and it still wouldn't give me the 1440 option. I also tried a W1952 Windows 7 Certified driver which has the same resolution - also fark-all. I'm at a dead end here :(

Solved! I played around with the custom resolutions a bit more, and I tried LG W1952 drivers - success! I now have the correct amount of pixels on my screen :)

NB: If one of your VGA pins are bent the SW can fail to ID your monitor and other info etc. Check that all your pins are ok before the party!

I did check that, and swop around ports on the VGA card. Luckily it was a brand new VGA cable, so I could rule that out. On a side note, I have seen some pretty weird stuff due to bent pins on VGA cables, mouse/keyboard plugs and molex adapters. I'll boot it up tonight again and see if it's still normal. It could be that green shooting star I saw last night that did the trick :p

adjust your resolution with the nvidia control panel - by right clicking on the desktop

Had the same problem... windows showed less resolution options than nvidia control panel. fixed it by changing the resolution back.

I have it all solved, I added the custom res into the nVidia panel but it would not draw correctly on the screen. I fiddled with the advanced settings (which I knew nothing about - stuff like edge pixels and interlacing) and I got it to work :)
