The body of a Malmesbury police officer has been found.

Warrant Officer Deon Dumas was reported missing on Christmas eve.

His family says he left the house to run a few errands.

Western Cape police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk says two suspects were arrested in connection with Dumas’s death.

“This morning two suspects were found in possession of the victim’s vehicle - a white BMW - and after they were questioned, they led the police to a location in Atlantis where a body was discovered. The circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated and the suspects remain in custody.”

The men are expected to appear in court soon.

Warrant Officer Deon Dumas went missing on Christmas Eve after he left home to run errands.

Dumas’s body was found in Atlantis on Tuesday morning.

The 57-year-old warrant officer left his home on Saturday afternoon to deliver a gift at his mother’s doctor’s home.

His family became concerned when he failed to join them for Christmas Eve festivities.

Western Cape police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk says two men were caught in possession of the police officer’s car.

Minor in dock after cop's fatal ambush

Cape Town – One of three suspects arrested for the brutal murder of a cop is a minor.

On Thursday, the Atlantis Magistrate's Court was cleared due to this reason as the trio made their first appearance.

No media was allowed inside the court, and it is not clear what transpired, but it is believed the matter was postponed for a bail application.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Eric Ntabazalila said he was on leave and could not assist.

The two men and a woman were arrested on Tuesday, a day after Warrant Officer Deon Dumas’s body and car were discovered in Atlantis, parked in the open driveway of one of the suspects.

The well-known cop went missing on Christmas eve after delivering a gift to his elderly mom’s doctor in Malmesbury.

ICYMI: 'Ambushed cop was having sex with prostitutes'

Cape Town – A Malmesbury police officer, whose body was discovered after he went missing on Christmas Eve, was having sex with prostitutes when he was killed, court documents have revealed.

Warrant officer Deon Dumas’ body was found at a house in Witsand, Atlantis, on December 29. Police have arrested six people in connection with the murder, including two prostitutes and a teenage boy.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said four of the accused confessed to the crime.

Dumas, 57, who lived alone, had gone to drop off a Christmas gift for his mother’s doctor in Malmesbury on Christmas Eve.

That was the last time he was seen alive.

Prosecutors say the two sex workers had lured Dumas into a bush and the three were having sex when three men and the teen accosted the group.

It was originally believed that the cop had offered two women a lift after they claimed they were stranded, but Ntabazalila yesterday said the women had targeted him.

“The deceased was lured by Naydene Hill and Magerette van Wyk into the bush [in Witsand] to do business with him,” he says.

“While they were busy, three men and the juvenile approached them and demanded money. They dragged the deceased out of the car into a decayed house nearby [and] tied his hands behind his back. It seems that the deceased was suffocated.
