hey guys

i just started this thread to share my pain

i think its about six months when i last played a PC game not because i don't want to but because my PC has been reduced to a good for nothing(ok maybe for playing music atleast)

can remember playing Overlord, Doom 3(yeah i know), C&C3,Test Drive Unlimited, FEAR extraction point(gettin scared lol) when my 6800GS(i know its not much but it played FEAR on medium high which looked great) waved me goodbye(own fault)

and to think what i've been missing out...it kills me:(
and it happened just before i got some good games..COD4, NFS Pro Street, Crysis, Raibow Six Vegas, FEAR Perseus Mendate....

on the (kinda)upside.. i'm busy organising myslef a lekke enough PC to start gaming again...
getting one for 4000.
specs: abit iv45 mainboard, Core2Duo e214, 8600GT, 2GB Ram, 320GB Sata HDD, 400Watt PSU, cool case.
only one prob... the 4000
well i got a job now and i'll be able to put away a 1000(or maybe more) away each month, but damn i don't wanna wait another 4 months...plus by that time that PC will be weak, probably is already.
think i'll make a lil loan by my aunt lol

@Ivan
yeah i know lots of people said its crap but i'm a person thats wants to say it for myself... so no matter what people say i still wanna play it myself, and then say its crap or not.. checking out the reviews, it doesn't actually sound that bad, probably just the car control thats crap.

@Le stat
ok thanks i'll check it out thought i really dont believe he'll sell me crap. i got that 6800GS for 600. and that was back in september/october 2007 i think(dang can't remember anymore)
and yeah online rocks, or atleast MMOs, i play GW but havent played it in a while coz my crap onboard makes it lag

dude plz dont buy the 8600

buy a 3850 or 9600gt i know they cost a little more but the performance gain is massive

8600GT = FAIL :p

realy rather save now and deal with the pain of not playing for a while than playing all your games at 800x600 just to get high settings :(

ffs, laptop keyboard ftl... lots of spelling mistakes :)

Stay away from 8600

The Nvidia geforce 8600 is a really CR@P card it sucks! Please your are going to dissapoint yourself:eek:

dude it may be a 1000 rand but in all honesty

the difference between a 8600gt and 9600 is scary

spending 1k on on an 8600 card is the worst pc decision you'll ever make and you'll regret when purchasing a new 2k vga card because the 8600 cannot run 90% of new games at a decent level

It's not a good time to be trying to get into Midprice PC gaming I'm afraid.

Going forward, the min spec is something like an 8800 or a 9600, neither of which are cheap. I'd say rather wait for the new range of AMD cards, the 4xxx's they seem to price their stuff a lot more reasonably.

im getting a 9800gx2 so if your interested im selling my 3850 for 1k which is what you where going to pay for that crappy 8600

thanks killa i'll let you know how things turn out... if i'll take it or not... i'd probably pay less than 1000 for the 8600 but ok thats fine with me.
