Hi Everyone

So they have begun laying fibre in our area and it appears to be a partnership between Mitsol and Link Africa.

Does anyone have any experiance with either of these companies? It seems like Link Africa is the provider of the physical infrastructure but I'm not sure what Mitsol's stake in this venture is.

I'm also not wholly sure whether it will be fully open access since at first glance it seems to be limited to a small number of rather unknown (to me) ISPs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Which area you from, as this soumds like Umhlanga / La Lucia

I'm in Umdloti...ha same as you.

They are busing laying it in Bellamont Road.

Hell, I moved last month to La Lucia.
Typical now that I have moved. They also offering this to us, have Mitsol etc, but if you speak to your ISP say Vox, they will also be happy to assist. I have spoken to Vox and he said they can offer also.

Ok sweet, sounds awesome. They are having an 'open day' later on this month and I'll definitely probe them further.

So link africa will lay the fibre (layer1), Mitsol will light it up (layer2) and your ISPs will provide data on top of that (layer3) :).
