Mitsubishi Idle relearn ?

Anybody used this trick to reset low idle on a 2.4 Outlander ?

Strange one. It idles nearly perfectly in P , reader says about 750 which is low according to the manual but it's steady.
Put it into R or D and it drops to 300. So low it often stalls at robots.

Just bought on lockdown day. Had a service with new plugs as well.

It most likely has nothing to do with relearning the idle, I think there is a fault somewhere.

Check the engine bay thoroughly for loose vacuum hoses, connections etc, I think the low idle could be related to the load on the engine, also check the spark plug leads as they we worked on.

Is it something that just surfaced or was the issue there all along?

Thanks, it was there before the service, problem was on test drive it never happened ? Just my bad luck.

Where and how do I start looking for faults ? Having 10 thumbs is not helping either..........

Do yourself a favour, Search for MitsiTech in Alberton, Arnold is a guru on all Mitsubishi's, Give him a call he will tell you what to do.

I drive my Pajero up to him from Cape Town once a year for him to give it a proper service, 400k km's later and it's still going like a new car

Idle control valve, Mass airflow meter and generally the whole throttle body, most of the time when cars have idle issues you'll find that the ICV and throttle body is filled with gunk as the PCV also feeds oily vapors in there, over time it builds up and interferes with things.

First start with the ICV, take it out and give it a good clean with a solvent spray, I use the carburettor spray or brake cleaner but you can use anything, besides water of course.

Have spoken to Arnold who suggested cleaning the fuel filter which I cannot manage. Just trying other things meanwhile.

Thanks, will have to wait for someone to do that for me. Sadly due to screws in my spine I can't bend at all.

Done the battery thing, if anything slightly worse.
Now stutters in P which was smooth before....
