We're using the following 60W Mixer Amplifier at our venue:
http://www.soundwarehouse.co.za/products/dsppa-mp-300p-60watt-p-a-mixer-amplifier

When the input volume exceeds some threshold, this amplifier has a beeper alarm that goes off then we have to go and manually switch the amp off and on to kill the beeper.

It's a Chinese brand and we can't find a way to set the input threshold at which the alarm goes off.

Is there something we can try or another amp we can buy for less than R2000 that'll do the job?

Could it not be a short circuit somewhere? From the link it appears the alarm is for that too?

Try adding speakers back one at a time to see if which, if any, give an issue

Elax, possibly, but it's weird that the alarm only goes off with high input volume. Could that be related to a short-circuit?

It's obviously beeping because it's working to hard.

So basically you want it to stop beeping and explode instead?

SauRoNZA, so it's the 60W that is too little, should we get a 120W amp?

60W does sound a bit low, but it would depend on the speakers.
Could the beeping have something to do with sound feedback perhaps?
Is your speakers mounted behind or infront of the mike?

Perhaps you trying to drive the output higher by upping the input?
If that is the case your output power is too low, or speakers not big enough.

60W is pretty naff. What is it being used for?
My AVR has 7 95W RMS channels ... :p

Depends what speakers it's connected to and how many.

But yes 60W is very low.

What size venue are we talking about here either? This seems more like a little pre-amp to me than a proper amplifier for commercial use.

It's more of portable take it to a funeral with a single speaker type of setup in my opinion.
