You think that mixing drinks does really make you feel more ill?

I went out on Saturday and had my usual beers, but a number of different shots. I was really ill the following day :( However I've been twice since then and stuff to Jagermeister - with no effect the next day.

Is it true?

For me it, my hang over is way worse when i mix drinks.

The trick though to helping a hang over is drinking plenty water before you pass out.

Off topic: Speaking of liqeurs and Jägermeister, do you guys drink Cointreau? It's my favourite !

Yuck! (personal opinion, happy for you to drink it all up!)

I reckon it does but I don't think it's the mixing I reckon it's the higher alcohol level percentage on average that you achieve by mixing drinks.

I don't think it is the alcohol level that you achieve by mixing, in my honest opinion, it is WHAT you mix.

I have gone on benders before having beer, brandy & coke and then throw in a whole lot of jägerbombs into the mix just for sport...

One thing that you should not do however, is drink water before passing out. The best thing to drink beforehand is Coke or something with lots of sugar.

My 2c...

Nah, you want to clear your system of all the sugars, not drink more (in the coke). It's the sugar content of shots that gives you the hangover .... as killadoob mentioned, drink as much water as possible before you pass out and you will diminish it. Also, a good pig out after the drinking helps break down those sugars too :D

I have read though, that it is the alcohol in your system that draws out the suger in your blood i.e. put sugar back and you will feel better...

experiment ...... have a night of only mixed shots and then a night of only one drink type ....... no water or coke afters. You'll notice two very different day afters ;)

Nope mixing a few drinks here and there doesnt make it worst...

I dropped beer and brandy and coke for J&B with water and i don't get much of a hang over, even if i drink a bottle.

I thought a hang over was partly due to dehydration. Your brain shrinks because your dehydrated thus giving you a head ache.

the dehydration is what the sugars speed along ........ whisky and water is the most forgiving drink one can have :D

Yup i tend to get out of hand on anything else and remember next to nothing in morning :).

Ahhhhhhhh so sugar plus dehydration = bad hang over :)

I have found that the older I get the less I can mix drinks like when I was younger, the feeling at that moment its great, but the next day omg the worse ever.

yeah the age thing sucks ...... spent my entire youth not ever having a hangover (no matter what I drank ... was a blessing ;)) but as I got older, I experienced one or two.

Whatever you do, never ever ever ever ever drink cinnamon schnapps together with anything. As a matter fact don't ever drink cinnamon flavoured schnapps at all.
