Mixing Ram Brands - Your thoughts.

I currently have 3x DDR2 800 Transcend modules.

I am only using 2x of them as it runs in dual channel.

I would like to buy another 1GB to accompany them.

Would it be ok to buy another brand or would that be a bad idea?

Obviously I assume the best option is same brand/make but it means I will have to go out of my way to find some Transcend when I can get Hynix quite easily.

E.g 128X64DDR2800 189.00 1024MB, 800Mhz, DDR2, 240-Pin Memory Module - Hynix **NOW IN STOCK** MEM

instead of the below Transcend which I currently have

I am not to sure there will be a performance differance but I generally only use idendical sticks and make use of dual/tri channel.

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Just make sure the new one has the same or better timing specs, as the motherboard will use the timing latency of the slowest module for all the modules.

Doesn't Rectron sell Transcend? Find somebody who retails for Rectron and buy the same module?

Otherwise just try match up the memory specs and you should be fine.
