My wife received an MMS from my neice. The message says go to www.mtn.co.za/mms and enter the message ID (which is 6 characters long).

Go there, enter the phone number, but it also asks for a 4 character "Pin".

What Pin?

Phone's pin doesn't work.

Everything I try just comes pack with invalid pin.

Ah, well, I enabled the phone for MMS and got my neice to resend. Downloads to the phone now. Thanks.

Clearly, with the "rock bottom" pricing of MTN's services, it is very difficult for them to afford web programmers who actually know what they are doing.

Should've enabled MMS to begin with. BTW the "pin" is the pin of your MTNLoaded account. Assuming you have one if not you couldve created one then use the 4 digit pin.

Sure, but wouldn't it be nice if the website had said that.?

MTN assumes that there users aka clients know this (not smart I know). Anyway once you insert a MTN sim into a phone for the 1st time its prompts you to setup your phone for WAP & MMS. You mustve skipped that step

Hi

When a number is not correctly provisioned for MMS the MMS is stored on the site where the user can still access it if need be, this was done back in the days to cater for people that didnt have MMS capable handsets and also to accommodate users who did not have the setup correct so that the SMS is not lost entirely. The pin it requires is the mtnloaded pin. Which can be setup at www.mtn.co.za once you register.
