MNet Analogue Trouble

Hi

I had a MNet analogue installation with a Ellies SA 15 amplifier. A couple of days ago I lost the MNet signal. The Multichoice agent said there had to be a problem with the installation as the decoder was in a working condition. I then replaced the weathered cable from the aerial and for good measure replaced the amplifier. MNet is now back but during the day Mnet has blue and red flickering interference lines – SABC and E-TV’s picture quality has never been better.

What could cause this?

SET BACK AMP Calibration

Check the Gain Control settings on the Setback Amplifier for both VHF and UHF (two small adjuster screws at the back of the unit) as they may need to be re-calibrated now that you are receiving a better signal since you replaced the aerial cable, and the default gain settings may be set too high, causing these interference lines to appear.

It also depends on whether the SABC / E-TV signal you receive is also on UHF, or is on VHF, as this could be the reason that they are clear, but your MNET decoder (UHF Channel 32 default output) has interference lines.

Also if you have a VCR connected as well, the UHF output from that may be close to that of the MNET decoder (older VCRs have UHF Channel 30-40 as their default output - this can be changed via a small screw near the RF output on VERY old VCR's - or via menu options on newer VCR's).

I hope this helps you out in resolving the problem!
