Why is allot of the dstv channels blank? just when F1 was about to start! ARG!

Just A ****ing Update 1st Pitstops Come And Gone And No Picture Nothing, half An Hour Of The Race Dissa[eared/lost

Ohh stickey!, I'm so proud, a first for me *sniff*.

Yes, well they tried to comunicate with a blue screen of death, they said someting about the whole race will be rebroadcasted after they fix the problems. But its very annoying.

yeh it also sed they replaying the race from the beginin, such **** service we cant even watch a live event

dstv prob couldnt afford live broadcasting anymore whaha jk

DSTV is making such a huge profit.. when the rand plummeted after 9/11 the prices were pushed up - now the rand is twice as strong - but the price stays twice as high.

So youre saying after were done beating telkom were gonna rename and regroup under MyDSTV?

But dont forget they showed all the past F1's without a hitch for as long as I can remember, and it looked like it was a big problem as allot of channels went down.

Yeah, and the programs are twice as crap. The only channel I ever really watched was sci-fi. They took that away and replaced it with that abominable Animal Planet thing and MTV Base. I mean really.

Three quarters of the movies they show theses days are old and they show the same ****ty movies over and over and over again.

So much more... than what?

Methinks the outage has something to do with an e-mail Multichoice sent to DSTV subscribers on the 20th of May.

The same channels as reported in the e-mail all went down today.
I think they tried to fix whatever was wrong and in doing so actually caused the outage.

Yes, I watched the re-broadcast, in between the black screens, and at the end the sound was very poor.

Seems that Multichoice has now also adopted the attitute of "we got them by the short and curlies, so we can screw them every which way. Where they gona go anyway?".

Dear Mr SMIT,

This is an automated notification. Please do not respond to this e-mail.

Got this email from them last week:

MultiChoice is currently experiencing technical difficulties with certain channels on some decoders. The channels affected are:

1. M-Net
2. M-Net Movies 1
3. SuperSport 1
4. SuperSport 2
5. The Series Channel
6. SABC Africa
7. The Verification Channel
8. Hallmark
9. SuperSport Zone
10. The Discovery Channel
11. Channel O
12. SuperSport 8

Our engineers have been and are currently working to resolve this problem as speedily as possible.

than SABC :D .i think. i dumped dstv as of 1 may. point your dish at one of the FTA euro satellites - you can get most of the stuff off there for free anyway...

We subscribe to the German channels as well as the normal DStv...expensive, but worth it. The RTL broadcast of the GP was really high quality, with pit lane interviews of all the top drivers. And not a technical problem in sight!

The only thing about the German TV that annoys me are all the ads for 6.99 flat rate 1MBit ADSL!
