Perhaps when they make the move to the dual view PVRs but until then I'm happy with my older non-HD model.

They're not going to make a dual view HD decoder. The idea is to use XtraView instead.

South Africa is the only country in the world that had Dual View decoders.

I still have a dual view decoder. Must I keep it when I decide to upgrade to HD?

Well currently you can use their "workaround" till xtraview is working, and with that, you keep your current dual view as well as your hdpvr and you dont pay anything extra per month (well not now anyway). But I am not sure if you can do it with a normal dual view, I know you can do it with a normal sd pvr

I heard on the dstv forum that there is some compression problems for the hd channel on a standard sd decoder therefore the channel is exclusive to hd decoder subscribers.
Isnt that crappy?
Please join their forum and rant and rave about this.
We are loosing the fight on that forum.
Still trying to get them to bring back the Sci fi channel and a dedicated horror channel!

Umm, the HD channel uses a compression standard that the SD decoder can't use.. therefore its not available. This is not something that Multichoice can fix unless they release a new SD decoder which I don't see them doing just so you can watch the HD channel in SD.

Prove the market is there for Scifi and a horror channel and Multichoice will bring it back. There are probably not enough people asking for this for them to justify bringing it back.

There are alot of people requesting these channels. These questions are raised all the time only to fall deaf ears.

RE: Bring back the SciFi channel
"MCA is in the process of appointing a Content Manager, who amongst other things will provide full attention to the Forum queries. In the meantime, to ensure that DStv Forum members are catered for, we are busy compiling an FAQ section, which will address some of the frequently raised concerns.

For instance, the Sci-Fi issue has been dealt with so many a times, with MCA informing subscribers that the sci-fi content is available extensively on our platform. All that is required is to go to the TV Guide and check for sci-fi content under the Theme Search, which shows sci-fi programmes scheduled on DStv.

The re-surfacing of similar queries, which more often than not call for similar responses has necessitated the need for the creation of this FAQ section. Hopefully, the combination of this page, together with the appointment of the Content Manager will assist in making the forum more robust and interactive - without interactivity solely confined to a particular set of questions, which have been addressed extensively.

As for the Zone Horror query, MultiChoice is constantly looking at improving the niche element with regard to content offering, however, the bandwidth limitation issue is always a central inhibiting factor. We unfortunately also cannot test all the channels that our base requests."

Universal replies and i will bet that popularity has nothing to do with it.
More CCTV,Rai international or Bvn anyone?Anyone at all?
