Has anyone actually applied for MNP yet... (to port to Virgin Mobile) ?

I'm wondering how to go about porting...

My real question is, I already have a VM simcard with airtime still on it, I don't need to keep it's number seeing as no one has it... is it possible to port my Vodacom number to this simcard? Or am I going to have to buy a new VM simcard?

If it is possible would I lose the airtime on the card? - Meaning the VM airtime, I know I'll lose the Vodacom airtime...

Anyone have any clues?
Thanks :)

Your wanting to port your vodacom number to virgin, right.

then phone virgin. i would just assume that they will port your voda number to your VM simcard..... i doubt you'll need to purchase another one. I dont know about your airtime....... phone 123.

Yea Boodles, I guess that's the best.. ;)

I just took the dive into the deep end, phoned VM and requested porting my Vodacom number to my VM simcard... no problems - no need to buy a new VM sim if you have one.. :D

Forgot to ask about my VM airtime though... they did inform me I would lose my Vodacom airtime... but they said nothing about my VM airtime.... guess I'll just have to wait and see... :)

They also said porting would take up to 4 working days at the most... and that Vodacom has the right to charge me a "goodbye" fee

vodacom would not charge you a goodbye fee if you are on prepaid.

if you are on contract and you have a few months left on the contract vodacom will charge you the balance of the contract to the 24 month term and whatever outstanding balance you have with them.

however you will loose all your airtime minutes with vodacom once the port is active, and virgin will not charge you a port fee, BUT """" they will likely charge you a SIM + Connection fee...

you would however need to go with your bank details (statements), etc, proof of residence if you are applying for a v100 or v500 commitment (CONTRACT)

use of words can be deceiving...

Porting from other networks to vodacom takes a maximum of 24hrs. (if your other netwrok releases the number)

some service providers are useing the words upgrade your contract with us at there stores, but what they doing is porting your number across to other networks they sell
