Hi Guys

I do 90% of my browsing from my HTC handset as I spend a lot of time on the road. Does anyone have any links to mobile friendly news, tech etc sites? Loading a site like News24 just sucks... while MyBB forums work brilliant.

news24 has always had the best WAP sites. Guess you need to just find the correct URLs or you need to set your handsets browser settings.

The HTC is not very well supported by WAP engines for browser detection yet. Its a failure on the industry side and not on your handset. Worked on a WAP site and was shocked to see how suck and backwards the industry is.

Yeah, I've tried quite a few of those "sms this number and we'll send you a link" sites. Needless to say not one of them have sent through a link that actually works.

I use Opera Mini, but 1st prize is definitely to find a few sites that just work through the default browser.

I also use my HTC handset a lot to surf the net, so I want to share 2 pieces of advice with you.
1. Get a better browser than the built-in one. Download a version of Opera that will work on your handset.
The reason for this is that rather than trying to find mobile friendly sites, it will be easier to get a browser that makes most websites more accessible - than IE for windoze mobile.

2. Disable the automatic loading of images in your browser, and save a small fortune in data fees.

What network are you on? Vodacom rewrites the meta information sent to the site and causes issues with rendering. (This causes endless ball aches at work when we develop a new mobile content WAP portal).

Still want to try Opera Mini on my E65.

I'm on MTN. Opera Mini is by far the best browser I have tried. Opera Mobile has a couple bugs with the HTC that drive me up the creek (such as running it disables all sounds and notifications)

Yeah, tried this one before. It gives a really stange page with icons all over, and trying to click on any of the links gives a "This page contains errors and cannot be displayed" error.
Shame - works great for me.
