Mobile Internet and LTE

Hi Guys,

tl;dr version at the bottom of the post :)

So I've been using my mobile tethering for the last few months (Telkom taking ages with my line) and I've been very very pleased with the latency, lack of packet loss and general feel of the Internet using my LG G3S.

I also have a Samsung Note 4 (Non-LTE) and the Internet on this is much worse. (I know you can root and "enable" the LTE on the phone but unfortunately it's company phone and it's not an option). Latency fluctuates and with even a small amount of traffic (Like teamfights in Dota 2), latency shoots up to 1000+ms and I start dropping packets. I don't have any of these problems with the LG.

Please see the attached picture. This is a ping to a Telkom server hosted in Cape Town. Top part is the Note 4. Then there is a single timeout when I switched the USB cable to my LG G3. Notice the change. Both phones are Vodacom and both are lying right next to each other. Neither was busy with anything in the background. So this rules out signal or "background data".

As my G3 is dead (and will be sorely missed), I want to upgrade my contract and get the G4. Problem is there are 2 variants. The G4 and the G4 Beat. I don't really care much for the differences in screen and phone size and battery life etc etc but I noticed on GSM Arena (http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone2=7363&idPhone1=6475&idPhone3=6901) that the G4 Beat has significantly fewer numbers under the LTE section.

My question is: Will the G4 Beat have the same great LTE as the G3S did? Will I see the same sort of smooth response times and low latency? I don't care too much about the actual throughput, I just need the latency to be low and consistent.

tl;dr: Will the LG G4 Beat have the same smooth response times and low latency over LTE than the G3 has (see pic and GSM Arena link above)?

Thanks in advance!
