"Mobile modem" for my cellphone

Thanks for the good info !!
So, just get a cheap data prepaid deal that you load on a mobile router (or phone, whatever), and then you can have cheap wifi data in your car that you can access via your phone with your normal phone setup.

The big Q then is should I get an dual sim cell (htc) and skip the router all together?

Well, I have a Samsung Galaxy Y Duos that I sometimes use like that, especially when I travel overseas, but typically the dual sim phones are not as good as the leading single sim phones.

Hi , I'd like to get a few simple anwsers.

Can a modem such as an Vodafone R205 wi-fi be used to connect my cellphone when I am driving around ?
I'd like to have internet at "ordinary" prices and I hear this router works on batteries. I would very much like to have this router and work through it instead of paying the ordinary cell-data fees.

Lastly would this improve the strenght of the connection?

You put a cell provider SIM in the device, so you are still paying mobile rates

What Uwe K wants to do is perfectly possible. Do it as follows:

1. Get Mofaya TopUp promo. (no billshock)
2. Put SIM in router.
3. Connect router to lighter socket via USB cable for permanent power.
4. Enable WiFi on router.
5. Your car is now a mobile hotspot.
6. Set phone(s) to use WiFi.
7. Done.

Or, if you seldom make GSM calls:

1. Put Mofaya contract SIM straight in your phone. None of the above needed.

Or, if you want better voice rates:

1. Use your voice contract of choice.
2. Add month-to-month promotion bundles.
