Hey Guys/Girls,

I need some help/advice. I have a prepaid MTN cell number that I want to port to Cell C. Here is where my dilemma comes in, I have an existing Cell C contract and would like to port my MTN number to my existing Cell C contract.

Do you guys know if this is possible or can porting only be done on a new contract?

Good Luck, I think it's gonna be very difficult if not impossible , with an existing contract. First try Cell C. First ported from Vodacon to Virgin in March 2008, done in few hours. Assisted my son with the same in June 2010, and it took weeks. Seemed mostly to do with the cell company, that you are leaving from. And his internet did not work for 9 or 10 months. And this was prepaid.

Hi Comet

If you want to add the MTN number as an additional number onto your Cell C contract it should not be a problem at all. If however you want to replace your Cell C contract number with the MTN one that would not be possible. You would need to have both on contract until you could cancel the original Cell C number.

Hope that helps.

Doubt its possible, the way I understand things:

Porting is moving your number from one network to another. You cannot move you MTN number to an existing contract on Cell C, because the fact that you have an existing contract on Cell C means you already have a number on Cell C. Contract and a number go hand in hand.

Thanks! for all the replies, I will try and get the MTN number just added as an additional number on the contract.
