Mobile plans for 5

I'm hoping to get some recommendations for mobile plans.

We're a family of 5 relocating to South Africa so starting on a clean slate. We also need to get Fibre internet so bundled data\plans may be appropriate.

Our requirement is primarily data for 2 adults, and 3 school aged children. We don't anticipate calling much and will use WhatsApp whenever possible.

Some offer that has mobile sims with shared data for the family seems ideal.

MTN has shared data plans, I am not sure if other services providers do too. But I am a big advocate for MTN, I reckon they have the best network too.
 
Not sure about share data plan, but Telkom give you on most contracts a heap Telkom to Telkom minutes for free. So our family is on Telkom and can pretty much just phone each other whenever we want.

Thanks! I've heard MTN has the best network so will dig into their shared data plans. There are plenty of options though. Do I just get the cheapest possible monthly contract for each of us, and then add the shared data plan?

You could get prepaid for 4 sim cards and the one big data contract to share from. will be cheaper than having 5 contracts.

But please do research with data sharing, I am not sure if there are limits to the number of sim cards you can share to at one time.

Even this looks sufficient for our immediate needs.

My family is 2 adults and 2 children 14 and 18

I have a Telkom Mobile Freeme 28GB contract - R689 per month, the other 3 people are on Telkom Mobile prepaid.
I can transfer data to any Telkom Mobile number so I transfer data to the wife and kids on a weekly basis.

My wife needs to make normal calls as well, on my banking I have a schedule R129 purchase for prepaid airtime for her on the 1st of every month, she then using that airtime buys a R99 Freeme bundle which give her free calls to other Telkom number plus some data for Whats App, and some normal data as well. Then she has R30 left for calls to other numbers off network.

In total between us R818 per month R689 + R129.

I would advise against linking a mobile contract and a fibre home contract, rather keep them separate so you can move the one if need be.
