Hey guys

Im looking for a good setup with a hd6850. Not sure what mobo to go for but i dont want a fuss with cables n the like when tryin to get to stuff inside my case. Was looking at a Asus P7p55.
Im gonna needa buy a new case 2 so any suggestions wud b appreciated.

Thanks for da help

ASUS P7H55-M/USB3 is currently the cheapest (but it's definitely not cheap either @ ~R1300) motherboard that I know of that has USB3 + SATA3 6Gbps + eSATA.
I hope you're going for an i5 750/760.

When going for a case, make sure that it has cable management holes. The CoolerMaster 690 II Plus is quite popular and it has cable management holes.

Well the cheaper cases generally have no cable management, how much have you got to spend on a case?

Not to sure on how much i was gonna spend on a case. Maybe around R1k. Tighish budget tho :(

Is a micro ATX mobo able to handle an i5 760 n hd6850 without hassle n heat issues?

Dude how much do you have to spend and what exactly do you need?

Work from there rather than cut corners on the mobo :D.

Budget for case and mobo is R1.5k to R2k.
Bare in mind tho im buying the mobo from the UK so itll be slightly cheaper. The case ill have to get here tho.
I was more concerned about which case can fit the damn card in coz my mate had serias issues with his 5970 n his old case lol. N i believe the 6850 is around the same size?

I highly doubt the 6850 is anywhere near as big as the 5970, you more than likely need like 22-24cm space i reckon which majority of cases should handle.

Why would the mobo be cheaper in the UK? Are you going there and flying back here or something?

No, the HD 6850 is MUCH smaller than the HD 5970. The HD 5970 is the longest graphics that you can get, so most cases might be too small for it, unless you start looking at the ones costing R1000+

6870 is 9.75"
5970 is 12.2""
ie about 6cm difference

Ah ok shew! clearly i was misinformed.
Reason im gettin stuff in the UK is coz my brother is coming down mid Nov n so thought hey why not upgrade a little...
Thanks for da help :)

Definitely go with The CoolerMaster CM690 II Plus, its about R800 and has THE MOST CABLE MANAGMENT STUFF you can ever want, got mine (the advanced - no difference really just some minor tweaks) and i luv it, can barely see any of my cables.
and i seriously hate the Hard core gamer cases they just seem so stupid to me, i prefer the look of the 690

EDIT: the 5870 fits easily in the 690, with about 5cm to spare, not sure how big the 5870 compare to 5970 is, but keep in mind it had a Sapphire Cooler which i beleive is smaller than the other 5870 ones

Here you can see how my CM 690 II Advanced (the inside looks the same as the 690 II Plus) looks after I've done all the cabling: http://www.zoopy.com/photo/50jj/cm-692-ii-advanced

You get cheaper cases with cable management, like the CM Gladiator 600 & Centurion 5 II, but the 690 II Plus' cable management is way better.

lolz, my cabling is nicer :) but i do have a modular psu which helps...
anyway, u see the fan on the left of your cooler? does that fan blow in or pull out?

Hehe. You really don't want to see how my cabling looks between the motherboard plate and the back plate :P If I want to get the cabling neat, I'd have to get a SATA DVD-ROM.
I'm not 100% sure which direction that fan blows. I haven't changed anything on the original fan setup that comes with the case, so I'd guess that it would suck air in on the front and blow out on the back + top?
Could you perhaps post pics of your case?

Tumbleweed: you can bring in stuff duty free as long as it's under R3000, so that would save you a couple of bucks :)
It might be worth it to check if that card/manufacturer has a global warranty, so that you don't have to send the card back to the UK if its broken.

Thanks for da info Pada, will note that, had no idea bout the duty free n global warranty issue! last thing i need is to send the damn thing back again hehe
